Thinking about Counselling?
The idea of counselling can be exciting, and at the same time pretty scary.
You may have lots of thoughts and feelings about what you want and need. There is a lot of information available, but still its really hard to know if its the right thing, who's the right person, what it's going to be like, is it going to work? I can't give you simple answers to any of that, but I can say its worth the time and effort to find out.
Counselling isn't just about having someone to listen - it's also about learning to look at your own life and experiences with new eyes. Its not an easy option, or a quick fix, but it can be a surprising and life-changing step towards finding out what you need in your life going forward.

About meI'm compassionate and caring and will respect your beliefs and values. I tend to be straightforward, honest and direct, and encourage you to be who you are. I see our experiences and humanity as both unique to each of us, and the shared ground that allow us to connect and belong together. I welcome whatever you are prepared to bring to each session. I have a Diploma in Counselling with a focus on Person Centred, Existential and Rational Emotive Behavioural theories. These are some of the approaches included in the Humanistic approach to counselling which I use in combination. I have many years of experience working with adults and their concerns, including, mental and emotional health concerns, physical disability, sexual abuse and relationship issues among others. I have a particular interest in the effects of shame, vulnerability, courage and self-compassion, arising from the ideas of Brené Brown. I have worked through many difficult experiences of my own, and expect to do so again in my lifetime, so I understand what it feels like to be seeking help and support.
